What's new this month at Team Ardo

These last few weeks we have been carrying various preparation work. The Cancella Mulcher has been clearing the cut tree stumps and damaged or spent trees from the old plantations so that the planting team can get the new saplings established for the Christmas Tree Growing company. 
On the farming side, the other tractors and ploughs have been busy preparing the fields for the sowing of spring crops. Here that is barley and oats. The wheat and oil seed rape seeds were sown in the autumn and will be the first to harvest in the summer. Unfortunately the geese, crows and pigeons also like the young shoots so we have spent a fair amount of time with various bird scaring techniques - some are more effective than others! 

Aside from that, our accommodation hostel (#ardohostel) has had a deep spring clean and a spruce up, ready for the season ahead. 

In addition to this, we have also had a team working on an estate near Keith, creating new estate roads for their fishing guests This has involved use of various machinery - the Cancella Mulcher is great for this work as well, tracked Caterpillar Digger, Stone Crusher, Murray Machinery  Road Grader, Heavy roller and the Fendt tractors. It's a lovely area to work in, and usually better weather there than here!

Other news is that we are again taking part in LEAF Open Farm Sunday. In 2022, this takes place on 12th June; so plans are afoot to make it a great day out for everyone.
