HOW TO GET THE BEST FROM YOUR CUT ARDO CHRISTMAS TREE.
Conifers from Ardo Christmas Trees are all grown from sapling stage in Aberdeenshire.
These trees have been grown in local plantations for between 5 to 9 years.
Once you have chosen your tree, we will net it for ease of transportation.
We realise that you will be excited to put up your Ardo Christmas Tree as soon as possible. However a few extra cares just now, will help your tree stay green and festive till well after the big day.
Once home, we recommend that you un-net your tree & keep it some where sheltered but unheated. A garage or shed would be ideal.
Keep it here for a few days to allow your tree to acclimatise.
At the same time, your tree will be thirsty. Think of it as a large bunch of flowers. So trim a few inches from the bottom of the trunk and emerge it in a large bucket of water.
Once your tree has become used to the change in temper-ature, it’s time to bring it into the house.
Choose a tree stand with a large enough reservoir to allow your tree to take in more water. A Christmas tree can drink a litre or more a day.
Choose your position carefully. Not too close to the radiator. If you have under-floor heating, con-sider putting an insulating pad below the tree stand to reduce the transfer of heat.
If the location allows, a water spray on to the tree occasionally will help prevent the needles from drying out. But, be aware of electrics and do not spray near them.
One final thing to help your tree stay green is to mini-mise exposure to extremes of temp-erature. If your Christmas Tree is next to a window, consider closing the curtains over at night so that the chill from outside is kept to a minimum.
