HOW TO DECORATE YOUR ARDO CHRISTMAS TREE

Picture
  • Firstly, let me start by saying that there is no wrong way to decorate a Christmas Tree!
  • The following are my ideas, they’re not any more or less valid than anyone else’s, but if it helps, then so much the better.
  • When choosing the position for your tree, make sure that it is close enough for the fairy lights to reach both the tree and the socket without being a trip hazard.
  • Set aside a time to decorate the tree. Trying to do this, whilst preparing a meal, helping with homework or cleaning is never going to work.
  • Optional is some background Christmas music. We like the tradit-ional carols for the tree decorating routine.
  • We always put the lights on first. We use an average of 100 lights per foot of the tree. So a 6ft tree = 600 lights. This may mean that you need to use 2 sets of lights – that’s OK as well.
  • After the lights comes the decorations. It may be that you have a colour or style theme; or you might prefer a colourful selection. Either is good. I’ve even decorated a tree purely with artificial ponsettia flowers!
  • Whatever decorations you have decided on, it is worth taking time at the start to sort them by size, colour etc and to attach hooks if required. Once you start decorating, you don’t want anything to get in your way.
  • We would always start with the tree topper. Star or Angel? It’s up to you. Or if you have more than one tree, why not have one of each?
  • Remember to use a step ladder or stool when reaching higher than yourself. You don’t want to have an injury over the festive season.
  • Next is the larger baubles. Space these around the tree at fairly regular intervals, making sure that there is variety in colour or texture as approp-riate.
  • Fill in the gaps with smaller décor-ations; and remember perspective: larger baubles where the tree is larger, & smaller towards the top of the tree.
  • Finally is the addition of your garlands. We like to use ribbon or threaded beads where we can. They can add a certain sparkle to your tree and wind them diagonally round the tree, starting from the top. Again, colour and style are completely a personal choice.
  • Take your time and enjoy the experience. Involve the family if you wish. Emmerse yourself in the spirit of Christmas.
  • Decorating your tree should be a celebration not a chore, so relax and enjoy.
  • Christmas should be about “Making Memories”; so make some more this Christmas.
